Silver Spoon - May 26th 2007

Decoursey has been nagging at us for some time now to have a roll at Silver Spoon in Wembley. Well, we were up for a roll on Friday so decided to check it out.

We arrived early, around 10.45pm. Parking was painless and we breezed straight in. Damage at the door was £7 each. Very reasonable. First impressions? Well, the size and shape of Silver Spoon is very similar to the old Uppercut Club/Roller Power (for those old enough). That means a fairly long and narrow floor. The floor surface itself was surprisingly good. The music was superlative and loud without being painful.

We met up with several ol' skool skaters- Captain, Winston, Decoursey and some others. FB was also there. We were approached by Orphy Robinson of Skating Heaven who recognised us from our myspace page. What a lovely guy! Very down-to-earth and with an obvious passion for skating and music. He's involved in organising a 16 day skating and music event in Hackney. Keep checking our news page for up-to-date info. He also introduced us to Ray Johnson, the drummer from Atmosfear (top jazz-funk group from back in the day) and soul legend Kenny Thomas. Both of whom are ol' skool skaters getting back in the groove. We had a great time and we will definitely be returning soon.
