Derby all-nighter November 17th 2007

Okay, this write up is a bit on the late side, but hey- good times are always worth reading about, right?

Leading up to the all-nighter everyone we spoke to asked us if we were going and if I'd be deejaying. We couldn't guarantee it as we were attending a wedding for pretty much the whole day and we didn't want to leave the wedding early as that would be rude and after a whole day's celebrating would we be able to skate all night....?

Well, a lovely time was had by all at the wedding and come the reception we were given the okay to go skating.

The bride was a skater after all...

So we went home, got changed and made our way from Rollergroove towers to Derby. What a night!! After receiving comments from previous events, the management had ruled there would be fewer games played at this event and more dancing. Woo-Hoo! That was fine by us. As we couldn't guarantee we would be attending, I wasn't deejaying, so instead I was rolling around with cameras around my neck.

Taking my place was the ever-reliable and funky-as-you-like Sam EJ from London who gave everyone a taste of raregroove and funk. Mr Baines was there with his swingbeat and soul selection with a little raggae and ragga. It was amazing to see so many people make the effort to travel for this event. There was a massive contingent from London in particular, but pretty much every part of the UK was represented. Derby Dave, Cockney Paul, Swifty and Wayne Trueman were there and back on form. They've been training a young skater by the name of Josh (J Bec) and he's learning really fast and is definitely one to watch for the future.

There was such a buzz created on the night that people are still talking about it now. We can't wait for the next one. Keep checking out Rollergroove for news of the next all-nighter. It's gonna be massive. If you can be there, you should!
